Lotus Arts Studio opening January, 2007

The Lotus Arts Studio website is now online, the class schedule has been posted and registration is open for classes beginning in January.

Visit Lotus Arts Studio to learn about the classes offered and to register online.

Classes are still available through Fairview Heights Parks & Recreation (489-2040) and through Belleville Health & Sports Center (398-2778) as well as through the new studio. Register directly through them for those classes.

To find a class outside the St. Louis area, visit Shira's excellent website,
which has a directory of teachers.

St. Louis area classes

There are quite a few excellent troupes and teachers in the St. Louis area.

  • Simone's 7th Veil: Offers beginner and intermediate classes. Also sponsors a variety of excellent workshops, haflas and shows.
  • Aalim Dance Company: Another sponsor of events as well as a variety of classes.
  • Nisaa: Offers classes through St. Charles Community College. Nisaa's thorough grounding in Middle Eastern culture makes her an excellent teacher. Take a moment to read the articles on her site!
  • Radhiya Taj: Teaches tribal and ethnic dances as well as belly dance at YMCAs all over the St. Louis area.
  • Oasis Studio of Dance: E-mail link, they don't have a website.
  • Belly Dance Mirage: Lovely dancers. Their classes, I think, are in Webster Groves.
  • Mystical Rhythms Belly Dance: Classes are offered in Maryland Heights.
  • Desert Moon Dance Academy: Classes are offered in Des Peres (Manchester Road, one mile east of 270). Sponsors the annual MEDINA dance competition and workshop in late August.
